For families wanting total relaxation and freedom from hosting during the Christmas season, a cruise is an ideal way to unwind together. Our friends from Travel People http://www.travelpeople.com.ph/ made our arrangements on board Costa Diadema.  Majority of their crew were Filipinos so we all felt right at home – spoiled with their hospitality.  My mom was more than delighted with the special treats they extended to us.

Barcelona was our start and end point.  It was a blessing to wander around, revisiting sites and EAT.

The apartment we discovered was great – quite relaxing, the kids voted to stay in to enjoy it more.

Located in the district of Eixample, Vale Apartments Barcelona was our home away from home. This smoke-free apartment building is within a 10-minute walk of Hospital Clinic and Casa Batllo while Casa Mila and Placa de Catalunya are also within 15 minutes.
Each apartment provides a kitchen with a refrigerator, an oven, a stovetop, and a microwave. Guests can appreciate conveniences like 2 bathrooms, a washer/dryer and other amenities such as free WiFi, front-desk assistance and a living room.
For our family of 7pax, we opted to open up two 2-bedroom apartments that allowed more room for the kids to wander around.  We highly recommended this gem for families and groups!

Christmas aboard was exceptional.  We all had our personal indulgences like my brother with his happy meals, mom, Adi and I watching the shows at the Emerald Theater, Kristiana at the Squok Club, Joaquin meeting new friends at the arcade and disco and Anton just taking it easy for a week.

Even more pleasing, were our private excursions organised by SPS Travel www.sps-travel.com (Attached above).  Rid of the pressures of waking up early to disembark and risks of getting left behind amidst a large group of tourists, we were able to tour each city at ease and comfort.  With guidance from SPS, we explored according to interest with enough time to savour our meals, shop for souvenirs while seeing the rest of the important attractions.  Our personal driver and guides were very warm — they treated us more like family friends rather than a group of cattle being herded from one place to another.  Thus we appreciated our visits more with deeper insight.

In time for New Year’s Eve Countdown, we stayed at the Ofelia’s Hotel Barcelona. Apart from its ratings, I was drawn to this hotel’s eclectic interiors – contemporary yet shabby chic.  It was also right across the Plaza De Toros Las Arenas Mall and conveniently close to Montjuic’s Magic Fountain where all the action was.

Thanks to all who made this Christmas Holiday a well deserved one after a Brisk 2017.
